Mission of the Department

Our mission is to ensure that the students of Pelham Elementary School are given the resources to deal with psychological and emotional issues effectively so that they are able to better concentrate on their school work and maximize their learning potential.

School Counselors: Ms. Shannon Prouty, Mrs. Nikki Pike & Mrs. Traci Flaherty

 Ms. Prouty, Mrs. Nikki Pike and Mrs. Flaherty meet with students individually and in small groups to address students' needs. Topics may include self-regulation, anxiety, bereavement, and making & keeping friends, just to name a few.

Mrs. Flaherty received her B.A. in Psychology from State University of New York in Potsdam, New York. She received her M.S. in Counselor Education from Alfred University. She also holds an Advanced Certification in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialty in Conflict Resolution and Peaceable Schools from Lesley University. She lives in Hudson with her husband, Steve, their son, Aiden and daughter, Keira.

Mrs. Prouty received her B.S. in Human Services from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She earned her MEd in Counseling from Boston University. Additionally, Mr.s Prouty has been studying ways to help children manage anxiety. She lives in Salem with her husband, daughter and her dog, Biscuit Love.

Mrs. Pike received her M.Ed in Special Education from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. After teaching reading for a number of years, she recently received her School Counseling certification from Rivier University in Nashua, NH. She lives in Amherst with her husband, their two daughters, and dog, Hazel.
