Reopening and Family Choice Option Informaton
Dear Pelham School District Families,

Last night the Pelham School Board approved our “Reopening Safely” plan to reopen the Pelham Schools under the Family Choice option.

Now, you have an important choice to make.

The Family Choice option means a full reopening of school for most students and staff while providing a remote learning option for students unable to return to school or uncomfortable about returning to school. You will be asked to decide if you are opting out of in-school instruction by Friday, August 7, 2020.  In the coming days, I will send you an electronic form to complete to indicate your choice. The commitment will extend through the first semester for Pelham High School students and the first trimester for elementary and middle school students.

To help answer questions, I will host a Public Discussion Zoom Meeting for families this Monday evening, August 3rd from 6 pm to 7 pm. The link was sent via email as it contains a password to access the meeting. If you did not receive the email, please email Matthew McKenna at [email protected] to receive the link.

The meeting will give me an opportunity to share the progress we have made thus far. It will also allow people watching to ask questions through a moderator. If you would like to submit questions ahead of time, please submit them on this form by 4:00 pm Monday. This will ensure that I will answer the most frequently asked questions first. Community members can also submit questions “live” via the chat.

In the event that we have more than our maximum number of 300 people who want to attend, the meeting will be recorded so anyone will be able to watch it afterward. We will use Zoom since I anticipate these gatherings could be larger than DHHS suggests at this time and many people may not be nearby due to summer plans. I hope to hear from you.

Thank you for your patience and energy.

Sincerely,

Chip McGee

Superintendent of Schools
