Dear Pelham Families,

I hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day Weekend. I have a few updates for you on this beautiful Friday afternoon.

The students are back! I loved seeing our ninth graders at orientation yesterday. On Tuesday, September 8, we are hosting Pelham voters at the high school for the primary.  Families will be able to “Meet and Greet” teachers at Pelham Elementary and Pelham Memorial. On Wednesday, September 9, the school year begins with classes starting both in school and remote.

Please be patient with pick up and drop off. With so many changes, I am sure the first few days of school will be complicated, and therefore slower than we would like. I am asking that we all be patient with each other. We are all learning new ways of doing things and new things take time. Plan for delays; bring a book!

Our bus routes are stretched very thin this year. Please consider other ways to get to school this year. If your child is signed up to take the bus, please be prepared for delays on the first few days. We are figuring out how many people are actually going to be on the buses. If a bus is at capacity on the way to school, the driver will need to drop those students at school before picking up the rest of the route. If a bus is over capacity at the high school, I have asked administration to coordinate which students will need to wait for a second route or find an alternative.

We are able to provide meals (breakfast and lunch) at no cost to all students for now. This is thanks to our quick application to the USDA for a waiver extension. All meals must be pre-ordered and meal information and instructions can be found at the Pelham School District Nutrition Department 2020-2021 Meal Program Information Webpage. Meals can be pre-ordered up to 5 school days ahead of time. All remote learner meals will be picked up at Pelham Elementary School. Even though meals are currently free for all, we ask that you fill out a Free and Reduced application if you think you may be eligible. If you have questions or need more information, contact Kelly Rambeau, Director of Nutrition and Wellness, [email protected]. or call 603-635-7384

Find your Community Flyers here. This year, I will be sharing community flyers here instead of posting them around the schools. This is because we are discouraging visitors to the schools and we have about 25% of our families attending school remotely. Thank you to the Boy Scouts for kicking off the year with our first flyer!

Happy Labor Day,

Sincerely

Chip McGee
